Beautiful things happen when two of design’s biggest names come together. Designer Kelly Wearstler recently partnered with heritage paint brand Farrow & Ball to create a new paint palette. Her collection of eight sun-soaked hues, the California Collection, marks the first time Farrow & Ball has worked with an outside designer since the company began in 1946.

“I always say living without color is like living without love,” says Kelly. The AD100 designer is known for her intuitive decorating style that pushes the boundary of form and color. “Color is the spirit of a room and provides expressive power to transform a space with your personal voice, whether you’re painting all of yours or just one.”

Charlotte Cosby, head of creative at Farrow & Ball, says that Kelly’s collection does exactly what paint should do: inspire. “Kelly has created a collection that perfectly complements Farrow & Ball’s existing palette. We know that her instinctive approach to color and passion for design will inspire people everywhere to bring color into their homes in new and exciting ways.”

The inspiration for Kelly’s palette was her beloved California. The collection is a love letter to the natural wonders of the state, inspired by the vast expanse of the Pacific and the arid, sun-baked climate found further inland. Even the color names in the collection are evocative of an ideal California setting: Sand, Palm, Salt, Faded Terracotta. Connecting the palette to California scenery continues Farrow & Ball’s long tradition of celebrating colors in the local landscape.
