What We’ve Been Up To…

Though you use rugs year-round, of course, spring seems like a particularly good time to give your floors a refresh (especially since we’re offering 20% off select styles with code OKLRUGS). And we’ve got plenty of options—for every space, for every style, and in every size. For the traditionalist, these classic rugs will add an heirloom-quality touch. Need to cover some major ground? Check out our oversize styles. If you’re looking to add a little exotic intrigue, try an Art Deco style from China or Turkey or something from our gorgeous collection of new and vintage Moroccan rugs. If something luxurious and supersoft is more your thing, a Brazilian hide from Saddlemans might just be the perfect fit.

A Parting Piece of Knowledge…

A current favorite for both fashion accessories and home decor, tortoiseshell can trace its popularity back to at least the rococo period of 17th- and 18th-century Europe. King Louis XIV of France, aka the Sun King, was fond of commissioning fine furnishings and accessories, such as snuff boxes, inlaid with authentic tortoiseshell. And while the trade of the material is illegal today, its dappled appearance is fortunately easy to replicate in materials such as acrylic and glass. The pattern is a gorgeous tableware accent, and shell replicas make for statement-making art pieces.
