What We’ve Been Up To…
Now that summer is in full swing, we can’t help but be inspired by the tropical locales of our dreams. Featuring chic elements such as lush printed textiles, sea-inspired hues, and natural woven textures, it’s a splashy look that feels especially appropriate for the season but still works long after the warm weather ends. While we love a full room dedicated to island-inspired splendor, the style works in smaller spaces too, such as a bath or kids’ room. If that still feels like too much of the tropics for your taste, consider incorporating accents such as colorful glassware or sea-inspired artwork by Teil Duncan for just a wink of island ease.

A Parting Piece of Knowledge…
Bowlines, highwayman’s hitches, monkey fists… there are a number of types of nautical knots, each with its own specific purpose and essential to life at sea. Though they’re not quite as essential for life on land, they make fabulous decorative additions to the home thanks to their varied shapes and laid-back, woven textures. Try them as lamp finials, as round objets, or wrapped around a fishing float to bring the maritime-inspired look to your space.
