Ashley Stark on Winter-into-Spring Decorating

There’s a good chance you know who Ashley Stark is: The creator of Ashley Stark Home and the creative director of Stark Carpet, she has 1.3 million followers on Instagram enamored of her contemporary take on timeless elegance.

And if you don’t know Ashley yet, let this serve as an introduction. The busy businesswoman, tastemaker, and mom offered us a few tips for stylishly seeing out winter and segueing into spring.

• On decorating to lift your spirits in the new year: “After storing away the holiday decor, I recommend decorating the home in gray, pale blue, and white tones. It is still winter, and I love icy winter whites mixed with cooler colors that add depth to any space. I also love pairing two or three neutral colors with one bold color that really pops in your room.”

• On transitioning from winter to spring: “I start by adding bouquets of fresh flowers throughout the house in colorful hues such as lavender and pink.  I switch out my heavy throw blankets, faux fur, and pillows to more-textural, lightweight styles. I also swap out my heavy winter candles to lighter floral scents.”

• On predictions for spring 2023 trends: “We are going to see a lot of pink. I saw a lot of pink on the runway this season; Valentino had an entire pink collection! And with the Pantone 2023 Color of the Year being Viva Magenta, I think edgy pinks will definitely be seen throughout the home as well.”

One of Ashley’s suggestions for getting ready for spring: “Mix in tall branches such as my faux cherry blossoms. They add height to any room and that perfect spring touch.”

The citron animal-print pillows and the pops of orange on the shelves warm up the family room’s cool grays—and demonstrate Ashley’s love of using accents to make a space uniquely hers.
