The Virginia library of philanthropist Bunny Mellon inspired Cathy Kincaid’s vision for this room. Lisa Fine’s Persian Garden wallpaper, along with the arabesque millwork and the inlay mirror, contribute to the dreamy faraway feel. Details such as the pleated sconce lampshades and the daybed’s dust ruffle, however, keep the room rooted in to-the-manner-born elegance.

If the Fourth Annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas had a theme, it would be something like “Fine Prints.” Some rooms featured the same pattern on multiple elements, from wallpaper to furniture to drapery. Others went the more-is-merrier route with multiple prints layered atop one another. See for yourself by taking a look at some of our favorite rooms right here. The show house’s proceeds, by the way, benefited the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, as well as Dallas charities Dwell with Dignity and the Crystal Charity Ball.

Sara Hillery transformed a hall into an homage to 18th-century tearooms. “I sought to design a space that intentionally promotes personal relationships over screen time,” she explains. French bed alcoves inspired the creation of the niche in which the green velvet sofa nestles. Art by Dana Gibson brings a dash of whimsy to the classic refinement. Find similar sconces here.

In the den/salon, Julie Dodson Webster of Dodson Interiors started with the concept of a tented ceiling, accompanied by wall-to-wall drapery. Amid the antiques and classic design elements, “modern art adds a contemporary spirit and levity to the setting to foster conversation, comfort, and nuanced layers,” Julie says. The ceiling light fixture and the geometric rug have the same effect.

This brass-accented vignette captures the Moroccan-boho theme of the en-suite bedroom designed by Kristi Nelson of KMNelson Design. Painting the millwork pink is unconventional—but then again, so is this room in general. Find a similar side table here.

The Kano Garden wall covering by Gracie, based by an antique Japanese screen, wraps around this living room by Laura Lee Clark. The shelving doesn’t interrupt the wallpaper’s flow; instead the mural covers the backs of the bookcase. “The scattered pools of deep cobalt blue anchor the room, as the high gloss ceiling lifts the intimate space,” Laura says.

Mark D. Sikes named this dining room/library/office Villa Windowpane, and it’s easy to see why. The easy elegance of Billy Baldwin and Hubert de Givenchy provided inspiration. The dark wood desk, the gilded mirror, and the natural-fiber rug bring just enough contrast to the predominantly blue-and-white palette. Find a similar pendant here.

This room “first and foremost is all about freshness,” declares Julie Hayes, owner of Simms Hayes Design. “In my early childhood I vividly remember loving a fern-adorned garden room; therefore, I decided to revamp a classic.” Generous splashes of white, along with the mint-green ceiling and the pale green-and-white chevron rug, ensure that Quadrille’s Fern Cliff pattern doesn’t overwhelm.
