Outdoor Living, #myOKLstyle

Summertime, and the living is easy… but that doesn’t mean it can’t be stylish as well. So many of the alfresco images we’re seeing on Instagram prove that point. Take a look at a few of our favorites below, and you’ll see what we mean.

When Kay Volmar of @onceupona1912 bought her Florida fixer-upper several years ago, the front porch was anything but inviting (take a look). Now the petite space offers seating for four, thanks to a porch swing (similar to this one) and a pair of rope-wrapped chairs (find similar here). The hats hanging on the wall above the swing help make the porch feel homier, while the palette of whites and soft grays allows the plants and that gorgeous aqua door to really pop. Find similar sconces here.

Jewelry designer Miranda Frye kept her dining patio simple yet sophisticated. In lieu of color, she focused on sculptural shapes and rich textures, with cantilevered chairs covered in all-weather wicker, a Parsons-style wood dining table (find similar here), and a bold wood-and-iron chandelier. The dark minimalist sconce echoes the window frames; painting the patio ceiling the same color ties the entire space together.

Living in Florida, Stephanie Hill of @thestylebungalow knows that one can dine outdoors just as elegantly as indoors. Here bamboo-style tableware fits right in with the rattan table accessories and the decorative seashells. Just behind the dining area is an equally inviting lounge space. The filigree style of the furniture frames keeps the patio from feeling crowded. So does sticking with a tight palette for the pillows (from left: Farah, Cabana Stripe, and Garden Floral) while varying the prints.

The sisters of @PalmBeachLately have a different take on Florida alfresco entertaining (though they too opted for cutlery with bamboo handles). The Emilia dining chairs are so comfortable, they’ll encourage lingering at the table long after the meal is over. Tip: If space is at a premium, opt for a round table. You can generally fit more people at a round table than at a rectangular table of the same width, and it’s much easier to squeeze in one or two extra guests.

On the opposite coast—Newport Beach, CA, to be exact—the home-organizer pro who is @homeonpoint opted for the generously cushioned Emilia sofa for her outdoor haven, then played up the blue-and-white theme with some fun outdoor pillows (from left, Willa, Ahoy, and Emilia). After all, when relaxing alfresco, you can never be too comfortable! Perfect for resting a frosty drink, the garden stool beside the sofa can double as additional seating.

No matter how much of an oasis your home might be, sometimes you want a change of scenery. For Anju Kane, aka @_badgaljuju_, that means heading to the beach… in style, of course. Not only are these folding beach chairs durable and chic, but they’re also lightweight and come with a strap for easy carrying.  The matching beach umbrella is also easy to carry—it comes with a tote—and you can adjust the angle of the pole as well. Talk about having it made in the shade!
