A Well-Designed Day in Provence

Filed Under:

This summer we’re turning to our chicest friends for recommendations to the hottest spots in the coolest cities to ensure our vacations are successful ones. This week we head to romantic and laid-back Provence, France, with Alex Yeske of Dreams + Jeans. As a New York City resident, Alex knows a trip to the countryside is just what city-dwellers need to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. Below are a few of her can’t-miss recommendations.

Wake Up at Hotel Crillon le Brave

Start your day by waking up at the beautiful Hotel Crillon le Brave. Located about a one-hour drive from the heart of Aix-en-Provence, this is an oasis for those looking to switch off from the urban frenzy. Enjoy breakfast while taking in the incredible view over the Luberon. If you happen to be staying over on a Sunday, the hotel serves a gourmet buffet-style brunch of  grilled meats, salads, seafood, cheeses, desserts, and more.

Go Antiquing in L’Isle sur la Sorgue

You could easily spend hours browsing the antiques stores of this canal-dotted town. And if you’re lucky to be here on a Sunday, there are even more antiques vendors to explore in the market.

Head Over to Gordes

After you’ve had your fill of antiquing, head over to the hilltop village of Gordes, about a 25-minute drive from L’Isle sur la Sorgue. Wander the streets here and take in the stunning, expansive views, then stop for a leisurely lunch and a glass of rosé on the patio at La Bastide de Gordes.

Dine at La Bastide de Marie

End your day with a gastronomic delight at La Bastide de Marie. First, enjoy aperitifs in the incredible lantern-lit gardens. Then step inside the dining room, overlooking the vineyards, for dinner. Savor chilled tomato soup, foie gras terrine, risotto with local mushrooms and truffles, roasted quail, crème brulée flavored with lavender grown on the property…
